Music Composer — Indie Short Film
Thank you for your interest in scoring our short film. Film composition is fundamentally about storytelling, emotional subtext, and seamless collaboration.

Please complete the screening questionnaire below:
How many years of experience do you have as a music composer?
The producer requires full ownership of the completed score and master recordings as used in the film including exclusive worldwide synchronization rights and standard moral rights waiver to edit music to picture.
Yes, comfortable granting full score ownership to the producer while retaining my screen credit.
No, I do not assign ownership and only offer non-exclusive licenses.
Do you have experience importing video files into your DAW to lock musical cues directly to picture and timecode?
Have you recently composed a temp music for a rough cut?
Do you have experience with narrative short or feature film?
Are you comfortable sharing rough, early sketches (e.g., basic piano motifs or simple synth textures) to confirm thematic direction before moving into full production and mixing?
Are you available to work in-person with the director as needed?
This is an independent short film operating on a modest indie budget. Compensation is structured as an all-in flat fee for the entire completed score (covering all original cues, revision rounds, and finalized stem deliverables). Are you comfortable work
Yes, fully comfortable with a flat project fee
Open to it depending on the final fee and required score runtime
Prefer per-minute rates only
Film sound mixing requires cues to be delivered as standardized, uncompressed stems (e.g., 24-bit / 48 kHz WAV files split into separated instrument groups such as Strings, Synths, Bass, FX, Percussion). Have you bounced stems for audio handoffs before?
Yes, experienced with stem export
No, but comfortable following stem setup guidelines
All delivered elements must be 100% original or created using pre-cleared, royalty-free virtual instruments and libraries (no uncleared commercial samples, loops requiring third-party licenses, or copyrighted material). Can you confirm all delivered score
Yes
No
Need clarification on specific elements
Would you be open to composing a short (approx. 45–60 second) trial cue to a provided scene clip, so we can evaluate creative chemistry and dialogue interaction?
Are you comfortable with tight turnaround times and high-pressure work environments?
What is your current availability?
